New Years in Beijing!

Marshall's flight left on New Years Day, so we went to Beijing the day before to bring in 2010. We spent the afternoon haggling people at the silk market trying to get a good deal on some crap we probably didn't need. We then walked for a good hour to make it to The Bookworm so I could buy a Lonely Plant book on Thailand.

This place, The Bookworm, is what any great college town needs. I am working on the business plan for my father.

After a bite to eat there and a delicious beer it was time to meet up with some friends and bring in the New Year, China style.

We went to this area of Beijing that is like 6th street in Austin, or someplace that feels anti-China. We were meeting our friend Brett, who is a teacher in QHD, but there we made some new friends...

This guy... well we don't actually know who he is, I think he is Irish? But he was dancing the entire night, by himself. He did some moves that I wish I could recreate. I filmed some of it, and if I could figure out how to upload the video you would be laughing and enjoying it right now. Sorry.

Brett and some random guy, the guy with the backwards hat... We don't know him. But he sat down and just started talking to us. I think he is Australian... but he was a party animal.

At midnight he insisted we all stand up and have a group hug... We were the only ones who participated. He also tried to start the "Chinese train" as he called it, that consisted of just him and maybe 2 Chinese girls.

I really enjoyed meeting these 2 love birds...
Anna and David they are teachers in another city. They have some of the same feelings about China as we do... DANG CHINA!!!

I love meeting foreigners in China.

It was strange to be in China for New Years... The Chinese do not celebrate like we do. I did however see a few foreigners with some skanky outfits on... it made me feel like home. But it was a great end to 2009. I got to spend it with my boo, what more could I have asked for!?

I hope everyone had a great holiday! Next year I will be in America. So get ready.

kisses.

The Last Supper

Marshall and I are going to Beijing in the morning to say our goodbyes. So tonight was his last dinner in Qinhuangdao. He wanted Korean BBQ.

Once again we did not argue. We loooove Korean BBQ.

Kylie and Felice were present.

Robin was there being goofy Robin.

And of course the guest of honor.

When we got back I needed some help from Winter. I finished the scarf I made for Marshall but I didn't know how to finish the end. So Winter came to my rescue as always.

Look at that masterpiece.

His neck will never go cold again!

Handmade gifts are so much more fun.

kisses.

Girls Night... plus a boy

Tuesday Night Noodle Night... a staple in my week.
Noodles are the best.

We let a boy come to dinner. Don't we look like we are related or something creepy? We aren't. Don't worry.

After noodles we always want KFC ice cream, but we usually are too full, but tonight we saved room.
Marshall in a KFC... I don't think that will ever happen again.

Everyone go eat some ice cream today and think about me.

kisses.

Another Year Younger!

It's my daddy's birthday today. But I am not there to celebrate with him.... :(

Happy Birthday Dad! I love you so much, I wish I were there to have some of your famous hot dogs! I miss you!

kisses.

Chinese Birthday Boy!

Marshall had a birthday. The big 2-7. Since I am such an amazing girlfriend I took him to do his favorite Chinese activity... Adult Work Out Park- Olympic Style.

Before we got the work out equipment we of course had to stop and pose for some party pics.
If you look really closely you can see us...

We stumbled upon this.... dog??? It attacked me. Chinese dogs are crazy.

Then we finally made it to the desired destination....
He is turning Chinese.

Seriously. He is a Chinese man sometimes.

After the big work out it was time for his b-day dinner. Since he is an amazing boyfriend he said he wanted pizza!! He knew we wanted pizza... we didn't argue... We went downtown for some fancy pizza.

We were excited after looking at the menu with pictures!

Robin and Winter were not as excited as we were.... they wanted chicken wings. That made them happy.

We couldn't end the celebration without a visit to...
Beer. Coffee. Tea.

"Thanks, The Management" performed for us... (Kevin's band he has always wanted to start)

It's his birthday!

And Robin finished the evening with his typical back massages.....

Happy Birthday Boo!

kisses

What is a "turkey" called in China?

The school wanted to treat us on Christmas day, so they took us bowling and to dinner. We hadn't been bowling in China yet so we didn't know what to expect.

They gave us socks.
But they turned out to be pretty handy.

It was bowling time!

Kevin got warmed up

Robin was in constant movement. The Chinese are always moving. Always.

We bowled our hearts out.

We went to some crazy restaurant for dinner. It was like Golden Hans, but worse. It was Golden Hans step child.

But the waiters wore roller skates.

Another random holiday in China.

kisses.
