my best friend is engaged!

I'm not that good at keeping secrets. I can keep them, but it eats me up. Especially when I can't tell my best friends what the secret is.

Well my best friend got engaged this week and the secret is out and we can celebrate!!!
WAHOOooooOooooo!
This is one BIG reason I am so excited we are moving back to Oklahoma soon!

Congratulations Cathy!
I am so excited for the 2 of you! Marriage rules!

OoOOooooKlahoma where the Walkers will live!

The Monday that my parents were here we were anxiously awaiting news. Marshall would get an email at some point in the day telling us where he would be doing his optometry residency!

Now if you follow me on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or if you are my real life friend then you already know the answer to this. And I'm a few days late in posting this here because I am lazy.

.......
We are moving back to OKLAHOMA!! Edmond/OKC area to be exact!
It's only for a year, but I will take it!!!

Marshall sent me a text while I was in the shower so when I got out I saw I had all these texts and I got real nervous, I read them, screamed, told my mom who was right next to me and we started jumping up and down screaming with excitement, my mom may have shed a few tear, she is super excited to have me close again!! My dad was downstairs and kept asking what was going on. It didn't seem real and honestly it still doesn't. After 2 years of moving around we are finally going to be in one place for a year, and that place is going to be surrounded by our family and friends. I can't believe it!

We had to celebrate that night.
My dad doesn't like the champs, he drank his wine.
I'm so glad my parents were there for the news and to be able to celebrate with us!

I am SOO proud of my husband. I knew he could do it!

Watch out Oklahoma, the Walkers are coming back!

Fun fact. We have actually never lived together in Oklahoma. We have only ever dated in Oklahoma. So this is going to be a first for us!

fried shrimp

Marshall had to work on Monday for half the day so my mom and I did what we do best, shop. While my dad continued to be a good man and hang out while we shopped! We picked Marshall up at work so he could look at my eye and tell me I have to KEEP wearing my glasses. Ugh. I am over it.

We went to this little seafood joint that was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, La Camaronera
I don't even like seafood but this place changed my ways.

After we dominated so much food we used our free museum passes (thank you Miami library for being so awesome once again) and headed to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
It's this rich persons estate from the 1920's. It was HUGE. The gardens were amazing. It felt very Downton Abbey.
You weren't allowed to take pics in the house, lame.

Definitely a beautiful site to see, but without the free museum passes I'm not sure I would have gone otherwise. But that's just because I'm cheap.

the beach with my favorites!

Living in Miami has many perks. Beach days are just one of them.
We decided to pack up food, drinks and sunscreen and head to the beach for the day.
The water is cooold!
 Beach food baby.

My mom and I tried to save a sea creature.

While the boys swam like small children in the cold water.

After the beach we hit up some delicious ice cream.
That we didn't need. But we ate.
Because we are fatties.

Family beach days are the greatest!!

parents, pools, and horses

My sweet mom and dad have flown back to the land of Oklahoma and I am here to recap our super fun visit. As you all know when you have guests you eat way too much, sleep way less, and have way more fun.

The first day they were here Marshall had to work. So my mom and I went shopping while my dad waited around, people watching, like a good man.

After Marshall got off work we headed down to South Beach to get our party on. And show my parents the insaneness of Miami at night.

We walked around and then ended up taking them to Monty's. If you have seen the episode of Keeping  Up with the Kardashians where Scott goes to have dinner with the group of lesbians. That's where we were. They have a good happy hour with delicious drinks, its outside right on the water, and they have a pool in the middle of the place. 2 guys fell/pushed/jumped in while we were there!

BTW. I am having eye issues. I had to visit Marshall at work and after looking into my eye I can't wear my contacts for a week. So all the pictures you will see of me, I'm in glasses.
********

We woke up the next day and walked to our favorite little Cuban coffee/breakfast joint down the street from us.
I don't even drink coffee, but Cuban coffee is da bomb.
AGAIN, if you have seen the episode of Kardashians where Khloe really wants coffee and her and Kim stop at this EXACT Cuban coffee place (I told you they lived right by us, who knew they went to the same place we go to all the time!) Khloe then becomes addicted to a Cuban coffee called a Cortadito. The cortaditos at Three Palms are like crack. And so cheap.

After eating too much we headed to the horse tracks.
Because who doesn't love to bet on horses with hilarious names.

And bonus, we got free beer mugs with our $1 programs.

It turns out my mom is the best at picking the winners. She won every race. Too bad we only bet $1 each time. I think total we all won was maybe $2.20.

We couldn't stay the whole day because we had to go meet my Aunt Candy and Uncle Skip, my dad's sister for dinner. However, I took only 1 picture and it was on my moms phone! Fail.

First 2 days, so fun! I don't want them to leave. Ever.

kisses.

I can't wait to see them and show them this crazy city that I love!
I wish they were staying forever.

we ate too much and slept too little.

Miami is super fun for a lot of reasons. One of those reasons being that we have friends here. Marshall works with about 13 other interns that are here for only a short time too. We try to hang out whenever we can. Our friend Emily had a birthday this weekend so we decided to make it a multiple night celebration.

And because I suck, I took literally 4 pictures the whole weekend.

Friday night we went to a burger joint a few blocks from our place, Flip Burger Bar. These people NEVER come up by us (we don't live in a hip area) so we were excited we didn't have to drive 30 + minutes for once.
And all the pictures I took of the birthday girl didn't turn out. This one actually is awful too. fail.

Saturday night we went to this cool place in Brickell (that's the hip area that we only wish we could live in) called Hoxton Urban Beach House . It had a cool vibe, looked like an old beach house but was super upscale and fancy. We couldn't afford anything so we ordered french fries.

The birthday girl is the only blonde in the group.

After hanging out there we went to this cool little bar called Blackbird. They have board games and a great outdoor patio and no cover. We all just wanted to dance, but the DJ was on my hit list for the night. He would play one good song every 4 songs. But he would cut them off. He literally played about 20 seconds of each song and then, BAM next song. So just as you got into the groove of "Grease Lightning" he switched to Nirvana or something dumb. Ugh. It makes me want to go to DJ school and throw down.

We got home at 2 am. That is a record for us. I don't think that will happen again for a while.

kisses.
