new friends

I would like my 4 readers to see this.

It's big news.
We have made a few friends!
We met them through church and just happened to run into them at one of the many festivals Philadelphia has to offer.

I'm growing up and makin' friends!

a night in the burbs

My weekdays (& most Saturdays) go something like this.
Marshall goes to school at 8:00 am.
I do "wife" things. I work online (it's my job). I go for a walk. I stare at the TV. I work more.
Marshall comes home about 5:30 pm.
We make dinner (notice the "we").
Watch the DVR while Marshall studies.
Bed.

I spend a lot of time in this hot house. I need social interaction. Marshall is in study mode so I feel bad taking him away from his studies, but tonight, I needed out. After an emotional night and day, I needed a date.

So where do we go?
The suburbs.
Chili's!
We had a coupon.

Also there was a going away party for Marshall's professor at the local suburb bar. So we had to make an appearance.

We might be doing a rotation in Miami. As are these 2 other people. So we attempted to spell Miami.

I got Biebered.

Overall, it was just what I needed to get out the house and take my mind off of things.

Back to finals mode.

kisses.

love

Last year for Christmas Marshall re-gifted (it was in the back of a closet for years) a gift and gave it to Gram and Pops.
And Gram loved it.
An Indian Jones whip.
She loved it as a sexual whip.

Come on, can you find 2 people more into each other than these lovebirds?
No you can't.

We're all praying for you!

My gram was recently diagnosed with pancreas cancer. The thought of her not being in my life breaks me. Some days are good, some are bad. Last night was one of those not so good ones. But Gram is strong and she has a team of people praying and loving on her. And one day when she goes, we know we will see her again. Because if there is one thing my grammie loves more than my papa it's our Heavenly Father.

Lots of prayers for Gram today. I'll be home in 2 weeks to hang out with her for 3 whole weeks! And I better not be coming home any sooner.

Thank you friends for your continued love and support.

dance dance dance

Lifetime has really done it this time.

Dance Moms. It might possibly be worse (in a good way) than TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras (sorry Cathy.

It's about these little girls and their crazy moms and their even crazier dance teacher. Seriously, the dance teacher must have mental problems because the last dance competition the little 8 year old girls were big ole whores. And they didn't win. Seriously, one mom said that the girls looked like "prostitots" Prostitots. Now that's funny..

Also, their dance company is in Pittsburg. If they make their way to Philly for a competition I'm there.
These girls can dance.

This ridiculous show is Wednesdays at 10/9 c.... (now I'm the 10:00 time zone, it really throws things off)

Set your DVRs. You won't be disappointed.

foooooreeeeee

The organization that Marshall is VP of is going to El Salvador in a few weeks to hang out with the people and help their eyes. They still need money so today there was a fundraiser golf scramble.
It was also 104 degrees outside. No one should play golf in that weather.
But I'm a good wife and tagged along.
I just drove the cart and read Catching Fire (2nd book of The Hunger Games, I'm obsessed)

Marshall has never actually played golf before.
But he did pretty good for his first time!

He got some good pointers from his friends.
He's so cute.

We all had lots of fun, and bonus, his team won!

I think he might have found a new hobby...

i'm a book nerd now

My dear friend Valerie has been telling me for months that I need to read this
While I was in NYC visiting her I borrowed her 3 books in the series. I started immediately but while Cathy was here we were too busy watching Make It Or Break It to read!! Come on people!
I have my street cred to worry about.

But now I am happy to say that I finished the book last night. And I am officially a teen novel groupie! (for those that know me, know I hardly ever read... harry potter who?)

I can not wait for the movie.
Side note: the movie comes out in March 2012.... we will be living in Phoenix with my Aunt Nancy. That's weird.

I'm off to start the 2nd book Catching Fire!!

empty air mattress

Cathy left.
We woke up at the crack of dawn, made the 15 minute drive to the airport, and dropped her in the hands of the Southwest workers. And now, I'm sad!
We had such a great time together. I'm glad she got to see where I live and what I mean when I talk about how people wear black socks and Adidas sandals and how much the Thriftway really does suck.

My husband is amazing and the pat 6 weeks of married life have been a blast, but there are times when I needed a girl friend. Every time I'm out shopping and I see a group of girls together my heart aches. But this week, my heart didn't hurt so much. Thank you Cathy for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit us!

And I have to admit something to the blogger world.... we might have watched the entire first season of Make It Or Break It on Netflix this week..
Don't knock it, till you've seen it. We would stay up till 1:00 am every night just to watch one more episode... I love teen dramas and proud of it.

kisses.

"you were the MOH... I feel so honored"

Today we headed to the Magic Gardens.
If you ever visit Philly, you should spend the $5 and visit this place. It's crazy.
See.... crazy.
After the Magic Gardens we headed down to the Italian Market so Cathy could eat a cheesesteak.

Because you can't come to Philly and not have one.

After walking all over the city he headed back to my area to drink free beer!
Every Saturday afternoon the Philadelphia Brewing Company gives free tours and tastings.
And you know we love free things!

We went back home and got ready for dinner.
And dominated some Mexican food.

We went and hung out with a friend after but had to call it an early night because Cathy's flight... early early!

I've been so spoiled this week having her here, I'm not ready to say bye!

kisses.

We headed into the city for some more history.
After leaving the art museum (we never actually went inside) we started to make our way down the JFK Boulevard to see what else we could find.
Love. That's what we found.

After making sure we hit up all the tourist locations we did what we do best.... shop.

After shopping all afternoon we headed back to my hood to grab some dinner.
The green door is my door. We're "stoop" sitting. It's what you do here. We're just missing our Coors Light or else we would look like legit Fishtowners.

We ate and hung out at the Piazza in Northern Liberties (the neighborhood right by ours).
It's just so great having this girl in town.

Cathy had a dream

Some little girls dream of fairytales and Disney World... Cathy dreamt of Atlantic City and corn dogs...

Since we are only an hour away from AC we decided to spend the day making her dreams come true.

So we hoped in the car

and headed to the shore.

We took pictures.

Cathy built a mini sand castle

Marshall built a shell wall.

We pretended to gamble.

And we hung out on the boardwalk.

We also ate hot dogs and corn dogs and funnel cakes. And got attached by birds.
I hope her first (and maybe only) trip to AC was everything she had been dreaming about... trashy and awesome.

kisses.
