Mexican food, American football, and Easter in China

After a great morning of remembering what today means, we prepared a Mexican feast.

Kara, Jessica, and Kevin were in charge of the salsa.

Justin and Tim were on tortilla chip making...

and beef duty.

Heidi was in charge of making tortillas.

And Kylie and I were on queso duty

We had the easy job... we just put it in the microwave and we were done!

Which let me do what I really wanted to do the whole time. DISHES!

And Kara brought dessert. The jelly beans say "He's Alive" how precious is she?

While we ate we jammed out to 90's hit on the guitar.

And played with Eggy.

The weather has been nice, windy and chilly, but still nice enough where you actually feel guilty if you stay inside. So they put their coats on, I put my tights on, and we got all the toys and headed to the lawn.

We decided on a friendly game of football. DD vs. ST. Kara was sitting the game out, and Tim was playing QB on both teams. Now if you know me, you know I do not usually partake in the football type games. But why not? It's not like I'm completely worthless, I used to play soccer, and I'm super competitive. So heck yes I was going to play. And I was doing it in a skirt and boots.

We started on the grass, but the sprinklers kept coming on, we think they were trying to tell us something... so we headed to the dirt. Which made it a bit more challenging.

It might look like all I did was have my picture taken...

But I played some football.

I would like to credit and thank Kara for her sports photography skills.

And in case anyone was wondering... I scored 5 touchdowns, and I dominated. In a skirt and boots. And if no one believes me, ask Tim! I felt like Karli out there today.

I could play every Sunday.

Team work makes the dream work.

Our teachers at DD had their Easter party today. I took advantage of all their hard work and brought some students along for the fun,

The DD festivities included...

An Easter egg hunt with dyed eggs, and plastic eggs full of candy.

I even wanted my picture with him.

And then the B peed on me.

Xiao Fei was there!

And Oh the games! They brought me back.

They did this so fast. I was impressed.

And then... the egg hunt....

It was insane. screaming, running, oh the excitement, oh the joy!

It was a fun cold afternoon with friends!

And on the way home I found out that little Martin, she loves to speed walk. She said she races her friends. I LOVE TO SPEED WALK!!!! And then we raced. I might have found my Chinese soul mate.

Thank you little dough boy

We had been holding out... but there comes a moment when you just break down and give in to your cravings.

And we did today.

And then there is that reassurance that you made the best decision you could have made in that moment of weakness.

And it just felt so right.

Don't worry, they made 24. And I have only had 1 1/2, plus some icing, plus some cake batter. I can have at least 6 tomorrow...

I did do my weekly Friday night routine to burn off my cupcake calories.

I showed up late, but when I got there they were all doing the electric slide I taught them last week. I love it. I need some new dance moves though. Any new group dances happening in the US?

And Monica, ya know, THE Monica... she was there again dancing, I invited her and her friends to the Easter party tomorrow at our other teachers school. I'm so excited! Don't worry, I'm not cheating on Winter. Winter is studying.

The Nanc Sim is back!

English Club has started back up. Every Thursday night we do some sort of activity. Either games and talking, or a movie. The students prefer movie night. But we can't get to know them sharing sunflower seeds during movies.

So tonight was our first official English Club of the semester.

This group of students is the group I long to be apart of. They are my students, but I feel like they are way too cool for me. Isn't it funny? I'm nervous they won't love me as much as I love them!

We work with the Foreign Language Club on English Club. You may remember my post about Nancy Simon. She has yet to disappoint this semester. Still, all business no party.

She loves power. She loves authority. But if you dare talk without your hand raised she will scold you with her strange British type accent. And she has a boyfriend we are all dying to meet. I can't even imagine...

I love her.

After they were done with their very strange riddle game, we were up. I had been telling my classes all week that Kevin would be there with his guitar to hopefully bring in the ladies..

I think it worked. He seemed to have a following. He always has a following.

We taught them a few songs. Some classic camp tunes.

Kevin shared about Easter, we sang an Easter song, and then we had an Easter egg hunt on the entire 6th floor. The eggs were full of MONEY and candy. It was like Christmas.

To kill some time I led the troops in the Chinese Bunny Hop.

Which my students actually taught me. So no instructions involved. We just danced.

I love dancing in China.

It was a pretty fun night. Anytime they have chances to win candy or prizes is a successful night.
